Kathy Churchill selects some great destinations to discover
For me, one of the treats of the new year is to take down the empty calendar and start pencilling in a few weekends or weeks when we could go away. Perhaps a romantic trip to Paris, or a girls weekend in Marrakech, some late sunshine over October half term or the chance to see the famous wildebeest migration across the plains of Kenya. Well a girl can but dream!
If you are looking for inspiration here is a month-by-month guide to some exciting destinations you won’t want to miss.
January
This is the month when we are traditionally bombarded with holiday ideas and, as the weekend travel supplements start to pile up, it can be hard to know exactly where you are supposed to be going and why! Holmes Travel, with their dedicated and knowledgeable team are aware of all the latest offers and exciting new destinations and can often source the best deals to help you save money. The British Airways sale also kicks off this month so if you are looking to travel give them a call.
February
Romance is in the air and what could be more exciting than being whisked off to Paris. This beautiful French city has so much to offer, fabulous shopping, wonderful restaurants, a vibrant art scene and endless cafes. If you are looking to impress, the George V Hotel is hard to beat with its high ceilings, lavish floral displays and rich tapestries (doubles from £730). For the more artisan, why not try the Little Palace Hotel in the recently revived textile district (doubles from £190). A bright hotel with lovely artistic touches and nearby you can enjoy cocktails at the 1920′s inspired Experimental Cocktail Club. Eurostar return tickets from £89.
